Tejashwi Yadav chosen to lead Bihar Opposition amid family feud

Tejashwi Yadav, RJD’s MLA from Raghopur, has been elected as the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly, ANI reported.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has been facing deepening internal strife along with a setback in the recent Bihar Assembly Elections

The RJD-led Mahagathbandhan suffered a massive defeat in Bihar Assembly elections, with Tejashwi’s party securing only 25 seats, its worst performance in recent years, yet he will continue to lead the party.

This development comes amid a dramatic turn within the Yadav family. On Saturday, Lalu Prasad Yadav‘s daughter, Rohini Acharya announced on social media that she was quitting the party and disowning her family.

Rohini claimed she was unfairly blamed for the election debacle and accused her brother Tejashwi of allowing political pressure to shift responsibility onto her.

Party sources said Rohini had been deeply upset with the internal atmosphere following the loss.

Rohini, a Singapore-based doctor, has long been seen as one of Lalu’s most devoted supporters, especially after she donated a kidney to him in 2022.

Her sudden exit has sent shockwaves through Bihar’s political circles, even as Tejashwi moves ahead to lead the opposition benches in the new Assembly.
