Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the world has witnessed that “the new India neither fears nor bows down to terrorism,” citing Operation Sindoor as proof of the country’s strengthened resolve.
Speaking weeks after the deadly Red Fort car blast that killed 15 people and was officially declared a terror attack, Modi said India seeks peace but “will not compromise on its security.”
Operation Sindoor, launched in May, marked India’s direct military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 dead.
Beginning in the early hours of May 7, the operation targeted terror and military installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir before a ceasefire took effect on May 10. The confrontation involved fighter jets, missiles, armed drones and heavy artillery.
Modi said the swift and decisive action demonstrated India’s capability and commitment to safeguarding its citizens against any threat.
