West Bengal Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday strongly criticised the interim government in Bangladesh over the killing of a Hindu man, alleging state complicity and failure to protect minorities.
Referring to a viral video, Adhikari claimed Bangladesh police had handed over a Hindu man to protesters, calling it a “shameful act” by the Muhammad Yunus-led government.
He also drew parallels between the Yunus administration and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging suppression of protests in both regions.
Fresh violence erupted in Bangladesh last week following the death of student leader Sharif Osman Hadi, who succumbed to gunshot injuries in Singapore.
The unrest saw attacks on media offices, with The Daily Star and Prothom Alo vandalised and set on fire.
The killing of Dipu Chandra Das, a Hindu garment worker in Mymensingh, further intensified outrage.
Das was allegedly lynched over blasphemy claims, though reports later said no evidence was found. Meanwhile, another leader, Mohammad Motaleb Sikder, was shot in Khulna but remains out of danger.
